Core

Function Front Panel Leds Core

The core has multiple leds:

  • Power: Single color led (Green)
    • ON: Power is applied on the module
    • OFF: No Power on the module so the module is completely OFF
  • CAN Bus: Dual color led (Green/red)
    • GR ON or RED ON: CAN Bus Power ON
    • GR OFF and RED OFF: CAN Bus Power OFF
    • GR ON: CAN communication OK
    • RED ON: NO CAN communication, check cabling
  • CAN Com: Single color led (Green)
    • ON: When receiving CAN communication on the internal CAN bus
  • P1: Single color led (Green) -> Controlled by the BB
    • ON: P1 meter detected
    • OFF: No P1 meter found
  • LAN: Dual color led (Green/Red, Orange when Green and Red ON ) -> Controlled by the BB
    • GR ON: Ethernet port detected, DHCP OK, communication OK
    • OFF: No Ethernet detected
    • RED ON: Ethernet port detected but problem communication (DHCP not found or others)
    • ORANGE Blinking: BB is in startup, when startup is done, BB will take control of P1, LAN, Cloud and RS485 led
  • CLOUD: Single color led (Green) -> Controlled by the BB
    • ON: Cloud communication is established and secured, communication is flowing
    • Blinking: Setting up VPN
    • OFF: No cloud connection succeeded
  • Status: Dual color led (Green/Red)
    • LED OFF: RS485 Bus power OFF
    • GR ON: RS485 Bus power ON and all modules are in "GOOD" health status
    • GR blinking: Power is ON but no RS485 slave modules have been configured
    • ORANGE ON: RS485 in discovery mode
    • ORANGE blinking: RS485 in search mode (looking for new RS485 modules)
    • RED ON: All RS485 slave modules are in non-good status, the RS485 bus has a cabling problem or a slave module is not working
    • RED Blinking: Some modules are in non-good status, the RS485 bus has a cabling problem since no modules are responding
  • RS485: Single color led (Green) -> Controlled by the BB
    • ON: Additional RS485 port is configured and can be used
    • OFF: Additional RS485 port is not in use
  • Setup: Single color led (Green)
    • ON: One of the buttons is pushed (less than 5s)
    • Blinking: One of the buttons is pushed longer than 5s

Notes:

  • At startup, all the leds (except the Power led) will flash 10 times
  • After startup of the Master, the LAN led will blink Orange. When the startup sequence of the BB is done and the OpenMotics service is loaded, the BB must take control of those leds to indicate the user that the BB startup process is done.

Function Front Panel Buttons

The Core has 3 buttons:

  • Action:
    • Short Press: No Function
    • 5 sec press: No function
    • 10 sec press: Soft Reset of the module
  • CAN Power:
    • Short Press: No Function
    • 5 sec Press: Toggle Power of the CAN bus
    • 10 sec Press: No Function
  • Setup:
    • Short Press: No Function
    • 5 sec Press: Toggle RS485 Discovery Mode
    • 10 sec Press: No Function
  • Select (Only on the Core+):
    • Short Press: Every Press will change the display mode of the 8 leds. For example: A short press will change mode, the corresponding mode led will go ON (for example Output 1-8, the 8 leds in the middle will display the status of Output 1-8 of the Core+)

Notes:

  • The Setup led will go ON when any of the buttons is pressed.
  • The Setup led will be solid ON when a button is pressed less than 5 sec, the led will start blinking when a button is pressed longer than 5 sec
  • Any press on the buttons is confirmed by the Setup led. Especially for longer presses, people tend to push harder when time elapses which can damage the module so please use the buttons gently.
